H1, Bolding, Sitemaps
SEOXcellence has finally reached the last page of this tutorial. There are a few minor house keeping things to mention,
just to get them out of the way.
1. H1 and H2 tags.
These are HTML tags that tell the search engines these are exactly what your website is about. It's recommended that the very first
line of your main page be enclosed in H1 tags, and then, if you have a secondary line, enclose that one in H2. You can use H2 more
than once, but H1 should only be used once. Be wary, though, because one, it will show up as much bigger than your other fonts, so
you'll have to do some HTML things in order to bring it back to the size you want, or else find a way to leave it alone if your site
allows a title of a page.
2. Bolding words. I think I've mentioned it in passing, but it helps if you can bold important words on your pages. One thing most
people forget to bold is their business name; as many times as you have it on a page, you should bold it. However, make sure your
copy doesn't make it look awkward, as in ending a sentence then beginning a new sentence with bolded words.
3. Sitemaps. There are some free
services online that will allow you to make what's known as sitemaps. Basically, this is a script that you would drop into your
website that directs the search engines on the proper course of how to examine your website.
That's all we have for the moment. This tutorial could be a living and growing document, because, as I think of other things, I'll
be adding them in. I hope this helps you with your optimization, but I also hope it shows how long doing this type of thing can
take if you decide you really want to go through all of this yourself. As always, good luck to you, but if you ever need any
web optimization services, think of SEOXcellence.
